But the memories remain warm

Sure, Bryan Adams hasn't been hot for a while, but that doesn't erase his hits from pop history. You remember his reign in the 1980s with catchy ditties such as Cuts Like a Knife, Run to You and Summer of '69.
Adams' peppery voice and moussed-up hair added the slightest bit of edge to his mainstream fare, which came across as watered-down versions of Bruce Springsteen or John Mellencamp songs.
What the heck, the tunes made you yearn for simpler days of strumming your "first real six-string," and, well, having extramarital affairs. (See Run to You.)
More sentimental fans can flick their Bics and demand the weepers Straight From the Heart and that heinous (Everything I Do) I Do It for You.
Bryan Adams performs 8 p.m. Friday at Jannus Landing, on Second Street between Central Avenue and First Avenue N, St. Petersburg. $25. (727) 896-2276.
