New in town

A corner once occupied by the Patio will soon have two tastes of Greece from the same restaurateurs:

The Greek (21 Third St., St. Petersburg; 727-822-3415) is a deli with moussaka, dolmades, pita sandwiches, salads and subs starting at $4.29. Fries are curly-cute but soup, feta and Greek yogurt are good and good for you.

Opening next, and one door away, Epicurus will translate Greek into upscale Mediterranean with slick decor, bistro dinners and a martini bar.

I've had enough . . .

White chocolate. I like real cocoa flavor, which has been purged from the white stuff. All that's left is fat, a vegetable compound called cocoa butter, with some sugar or vanilla added. In ice cream, cheesecake or cookies, white chocolate tastes more like melted wax to me. Make mine dark, the darker the better. (I take my vanilla straight too.)
