Some Mozart for every sensibility

Lilya Zilberstein is the soloist with the Florida Orchestra in Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 12 in A major. It is one of three concertos that Mozart described to his father as occupying "a happy medium between what is too easy and too difficult; they are very brilliant, pleasing to the ear, and natural without being vapid. There are passages here and there from which connoisseurs alone can derive satisfaction; but these passages are written in such a way that the less learned cannot fail to be pleased, though without knowing why."
Maximiano Valdes, a candidate for the music director position, conducts the program that also includes Wagner's Siegfried Idyll and the Brahms First Symphony. Performances are at 8 p.m. Friday in Ferguson Hall of Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center, 8 p.m. Saturday at Mahaffey Theater and 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Ruth Eckerd Hall. Tickets: $20-$38. (813) 286-2403 or 1-800-662-7286.
