SEMINOLE -- Christmas may be over, but Lola Stirling thinks there might be a Grinch still lurking about her neighborhood.

Sometime between Wednesday evening and Thursday morning, someone snatched Mickey and Minnie Mouse from Stirling's front lawn.

The 4-foot plastic figures were taken off the steel rods to which they were attached.

The thieves ignored other decorations such as soldiers, deer, a snowman, a nativity set, trains and lots of Christmas lights.

"Mickey and Minnie were not exactly what you'd call treasures," said Stirling, 74. "But they are my favorites. And the children always stop to see them."

Stirling discovered the two famous mice missing about 6 a.m. Thursday when she went to get her newspaper.

Cal Dennie, a Sheriff's Office spokesman, said there have been about two or three reports of stolen holiday decorations this year.

"It's probably kids," said Dennie. "We usually get a couple reports like this each Christmas season."

Stirling hopes for a reunion with her precious duo.

"I could be very forgiving," she said. "I would just like someone to return Mickey and Minnie. They are harder to replace than Santa."
