Caldwell leaving UF

GAINESVILLE -- Saying he has done everything he can for Florida, wide receiver Reche Caldwell will forgo his senior season to enter the NFL draft. "I feel I did what I had to do this year," Caldwell said Monday night. "I ... put myself in a good position and I feel I'm ready."

Caldwell, the former Tampa Jefferson standout, had 145 career receptions for 2,117 yards and 18 touchdowns, ranking ninth in UF history for total yardage.

Coach Steve Spurrier's sudden resignation Friday didn't factor heavily into Caldwell's decision. "I probably would have left regardless," he said. "I liked playing for him and hopefully I can play for him again."
