Not long after his team stunned top-ranked Duke, Florida State coach Steve Robinson's thoughts drifted to tonight's game at N.C. State.
Not so fast, suggested mentor and former boss Roy Williams of Kansas.
"I got some words of advice that, hey, (I) need to just enjoy this right now," Robinson said.
The Wolfpack could -- and should -- wait a day.
"He has been down sometimes; it's been a struggle," said Williams, who watched on television as Duke overcame a 13-point deficit before the Seminoles rallied to win 77-76. "They lost to American and they lost to Western Carolina at home. It's been something that's not been very pleasant, even to the extent he said last night, "Well, I'm just trying to figure out what we can do to get ready for N.C. State.' I said, "The heck with N.C. State. Enjoy the heck out of this one at least until sometime tomorrow.' I think he's got to enjoy these moments because he hasn't had enough of them."
Robinson and Williams have talked often in the past few weeks, as speculation has intensified that this will be Robinson's last season in Tallahassee. His contract runs through April 2004.
"He knows how I was feeling," Robinson said. "He's been a guy who's been very instrumental, certainly, in my career and with a lot of decisions I have made throughout my career."
