CLEARWATER -- One No. 1 team won, and the other lost.
Behind 25 points by point guard Mike O'Donnell, including the decisive free throws with 25.4 seconds remaining, Largo beat Clearwater 64-59 Tuesday night.
Ranked No. 1 in Class 5A, the Packers (14-2) remained unbeaten in District 9 and took another step toward being the North division representative in the Pinellas County Athletic Conference title game. They are now 4-0 in the PCAC.
Largo withstood 17 points in the third quarter by Kyle Franklin, which helped Clearwater (6-7) erase a seven-point halftime deficit.
Pinellas County's other No. 1 team, Class A Northside Christian, was not as fortunate.
Admiral Farragut stunned the Mustangs (13-2) in a District 11 game 70-60.
Vitor Boccardo, a 6-foot-8 sophomore, scored 36 points to lead the Blue Jackets (9-6), who avenged an earlier loss to Northside.
