A state hearing officer has dismissed a lawsuit filed by former Capitol police Col. Terry H. Meek over disciplinary action against him by Department of Management Services Secretary Cynthia Henderson.
Last year Henderson suspended Meek for 14 days for conduct unbecoming a law enforcement officer in a dispute that arose over actions Meek took against officers who testified at a sexual harassment trial. Meek objected in a petition filed with the Department of Administrative Hearings.
Meek and the agency were found innocent of sexual harassment in a federal court trial a year ago, but one of the officers who testified against Meek filed a complaint saying his supervisor was retaliating against him.
Judge Suzanne F. Hood dismissed Meek's claim, saying Henderson's action did not violate state law. Meek has since resigned from the job and no longer works for the state.
