TODAY-JAN. 29: Two traveling exhibits from the Florida Humanities Council, "Black Florida in Pictures" and "The Wreck of the Henrietta Marie," a slave ship, will be on exhibit at the Alric C.T. Pottberg Library at Pasco-Hernando Community College, 10230 Ridge Road, New Port Richey. Hours are 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays, and 1 to 5 p.m. Sundays. TODAY-FEB. 28: The works of internationally known artists Yvette Galliher of Largo and Antonio Caparello of Aripeka are on exhibit at the Pasco Art Center, 5744 Moog Road, Holiday. Viewing hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday-Saturday. Admission is free.

SATURDAY: The Alzheimer's Family Organization will present the 10th anniversary edition of "Reaching for the Stars," a talent showcase, at 7 p.m. at the Center for the Arts at River Ridge, Town Center Road, New Port Richey. The show features winners of the first nine "Reaching for the Stars" shows. Master of ceremonies is Jimmy Ferraro, with a special guest performance by Dee Etta Rowe. SATURDAY: The Aripeka Elks Lodge No. 2520 will present Tommy and the Saints at a dinner show at the lodge, 9135 Denton Ave., Hudson. The band plays Southern rock and country, doo-wop and Top 40 tunes. Dinner of chicken cordon bleu will be served at 6 p.m., followed by the show at 7:30 p.m. Dinner and show, $19, reserved seating. SATURDAY-SUNDAY: Two roller skating competitions will be open to spectators at Spinsations Family Roller Skating Center, 8435 Congress St., Port Richey. Showcase 2002 is at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, when skaters of all ages are judged on artistry, showmanship, costume and music. Tickets are $5, available at the rink from 1 to 5 p.m. today and at the door. The second event is the West Central Florida Skating League competition from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday, when more than 400 skaters will compete in the Standard and the Star categories. Spectator admission is $4 for the day, with in-and-out privileges.

LOOK AHEAD

JAN. 18: The Centennial Opera League will view a video of Richard Strauss' Der Rosenkavalier at 12:30 p.m. at the Centennial Library, 5740 Moog Road. The production is by the Bavarian State Orchestra and Opera chorus and features Gwyneth Jones and Manfred Jungwirth. Admission is free.

JAN. 19: The 42nd Street Orchestra will present "A Swinging Affair," a tribute to big bands, at 2 p.m. at the Pasco-Hernando Community College Performing Arts Center, 10230 Ridge Road, New Port Richey. Tickets are $12 to $16. The ticket window outside the bookstore is open 10 a.m. to 2 p.m Tuesdays and Fridays, or call Cathy at (727) 816-3322 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.

JAN. 19-27: Gilbert and Sullivan's operetta, The Mikado, will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 19 and 26 and at 2 p.m. Jan. 20 and 27 at F.W. Springstead High School, 3300 Mariner Blvd., Spring Hill. The Hernando Symphony Orchestra will accompany the performers. Tickets are $15 for adults, $7 for ages 12 years and younger. Call (352) 799-8507.

JAN. 19: The Florida Orchestra will perform at 3 p.m. at the Center for the Arts at River Ridge, 11646 Town Center Road, New Port Richey.
