Man charged with DUI in accident
NEW PORT RICHEY -- A 22-year-old man was arrested Friday after blood tests showed he was drunk last month when he crashed his car and injured two passengers, police said.
Jason Daniel Welch of 5948 Indiana Ave. faces a charge of driving under the influence causing serious bodily injury, New Port Richey police said.
About 2:15 a.m. on Dec. 15, Welch was involved in an accident at Grand Boulevard and Kentucky Avenue, police said. He and his two passengers were flown to Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg, where one remains hospitalized with head injuries, police said.
Police did not release any more details about the accident.
Welch was released Friday from county jail in Land O'Lakes after posting $5,000 bail.
Woman accused of Medicaid fraud
HOLIDAY -- A 39-year-old woman was arrested Friday and charged with Medicaid fraud, state investigators said.
Danna Jean Lee of 3344 Jackson Drive lied so she could get prescriptions for Vicodin, a pain killer, from three doctors at the same time, according to the state Attorney General's office.
From Aug. 19, 2001, to Dec. 4, 2001, she received $1,437.74 in pills, investigators said.
Lee was released Friday from county jail in Land O'Lakes after posting $5,000 bail.
