Florida Gulf Beaches Marathon

WHEN/WHERE: 7 a.m. Jan. 20; looped course starts and finishes in Clearwater's Coachman Park, near Drew Street and Cleveland Street. Most of the first half of the course heads south on Gulf Boulevard, and most of the second half goes north on the Pinellas Trail.

AWARDS: No prize money. All finishers receive medals. Age-group and overall awards also will be presented.

TO ENTER: Call (727) 347-4440 for information only; to register, call (888) 543-7223, ext. 4, or log on to Runners also may register from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday at Harborview Center, 300 Cleveland St.

COST: $75 for individuals, $95 for a two-person team. There is also a 10K for $25.

ETC.: 1,300 runners registered as of Friday, representing 44 states and 13 countries. Organizers hope for as many as 1,800. Last year's race drew 1,529.
