Xpress, the Coolest Section of the St. Petersburg Times, is the home for features, news and views of interest to young readers. Most of the work in Xpress, which appears on Mondays in Floridian, is produced by the Times' X-Team. The team of journalists ages 9-17 from around the Tampa Bay area is selected every year at the end of the school year to serve during the following school term. The current team of 12 was chosen out of 150 applicants. Watch for X-Team application forms in Xpress during the month of May.

Life's sweet and sour

It took them a looooong time, but Life Savers has finally come out with sour flavors. Kickerz, which are sold in small bags, not rolls like the original Life Savers, are coated with sour crystals that give the candy its initial zing. Once the crystals are gone, a sweet taste takes over. About eight Kickerz come individually wrapped inside each bag, which sells for 50 cents.

Nick Cannon gets his own show

The Nick Cannon Show features the former All That star "taking over" situations such as a family dinner or lunchtime in a high school cafeteria. Mary J. Blige and Lil' Romeo, among other celebs, make appearances. It premieres at 8:30 p.m. Saturday on Nickelodeon.

Style slams

Britney Spears and Destiny's Child made the 2001 list of Worst Dressed Women. Britney was the No. 1 worst dressed female last year, according to Mr. Blackwell, who creates the list each year. Of Britney, Blackwell said, ". . .belly-baring bombs are a wacky tacky display. She's re-hashed Madonna on a really bad day." About Destiny's Child, Blackwell quipped "A trilogy of taste-free terror hitting a crescendo of off-pitch kitsch. Three peas in a peek-a-boo pod!"

Heidi and Heather hoop it up

Inspired by the true story of WNBA players Heidi and Heather Burge, the Disney Channel original movie Double Teamed follows the ambitions of the girls from their days playing high school basketball to the spotlight of the professional game. The movie premieres at 8 p.m. Friday
