SPRING HILL ELEMENTARY: The school will hold a parent workshop tonight at 6 p.m. in the media center. Parents of children in third through fifth grades can learn to prepare for the upcoming FCAT exams. For information, call Debbie Pfenning at 797-7030, ext. 270.

PINE GROVE ELEMENTARY: The school advisory committee meets today from 3:30 to 5 p.m.

BROOKSVILLE ELEMENTARY: The PTA will meet at 4 p.m. Jan. 28 in the media center.

WEST HERNANDO MIDDLE SCHOOL: The school will hold its History Fair Jan. 28 through Feb. 1 in the media center. Student projects will be on display throughout the week.

BROOKSVILLE ELEMENTARY: The school will hold an FCAT parent workshop from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Jan. 28. Jennifer Walker from the Florida Partnership of Family Involvement will give parents strategies and ideas on how to better prepare children for the upcoming tests. Those wishing to attend should pre-register through the school. Limited child care will be provided.

ACTIVE PARENTING WORKSHOPS: The Exceptional Student Education program is sponsoring a series of parent workshops dealing with child behavior at locations throughout the county during the school year. The six-week sessions are free, but those attending must register in advance due to seating limitations. For information call Doris Gero at 797-7022.

NEWSMAKERS: Parrott Middle School eighth-grader Lauren Frazier was chosen to participate in the Florida All State Middle School Honors Band concert, which was to be held Saturday in Tampa. Lauren, who plays flute in the Parrott Middle Advanced Band, was one of 120 students from around the state chosen for the honor.

Westside Elementary fifth-grader Nicholle Imwalle was recently selected to perform with the 200-voice Elementary All State Chorus concert in Tampa.
