Northdale association schedules election

NORTHDALE -- The Northdale Community Association will hold its annual election of officers at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Northdale Community Center on Spring Place.

Current community association members are eligible for nomination and election.

Association president George Aboud has said he will not seek re-election.

Offices up for election include president, vice president, treasurer and secretary. Officers will be elected by community association board members and serve one-year terms.

Guv'na candidate starts early with stylish kickoff

LUTZ -- Brett Montegny, owner of Classy Consignments in Lutz, has launched a stylish campaign for guv'na, the community's mock chief of state.

Montegny, 27, started early by announcing at Thursday night's meeting of the Lutz Civic Association, nearly six months before a new guv'na will be chosen on July 4.

The light-hearted fund-raising competition raised a record $20,766 for community causes last year. Montegny was campaign manager for the runner-up, Karen Cuervo, and both wore costumes to most events. This year, Montegny is running as "Style Kitten." She wore a pink wig and cat ears Thursday night and pledged to help the "stylishly challenged" in Lutz.

"Without fashion, you are naked and soulless," she said.
