Moped driver killed in collision in Thonotosassa

THONOTOSASSA -- A 42-year-old Thonotosassa man was killed Friday afternoon when he drove his moped into the path of a car driven by a Zephyrhills man.
Michael Francois, 42, 11008 U.S. 301, was killed at 3:05 p.m. in the accident at Walker Road and U.S. 301, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Troopers said he pulled his moped into the path of a 1999 Ford driven by Kenneth David Cloninger, 33, 3120 Coates Road.
Troopers said Francois was killed instantly. Cloninger was not injured.
