By Times staff reports Police arrest man, son in store robberyZEPHYRHILLS -- Zephyrhills police said they arrested a 31-year-old man and his 14-year-old son minutes after the pair robbed the Cumberland Farms convenience store at 5046 Gall Blvd. Police said Herman Drawdy of Dover walked into the store about 10:15 a.m. wielding a knife. He then ordered store clerk Janice Ripperdan, 58, to open the cash register, said Capt. Richard Scudder. She said she did, and Drawdy grabbed $64. Drawdy, whose 14-year-old son was in the car, then ordered Ripperdan into a store cooler and told her not to come out until he left. She called police immediately after Drawdy left and gave them a physical description, as well as a description of his black 1978 Pontiac Grand Prix. Six minutes after the robbery, an officer ordered Drawdy to stop near Eiland Boulevard and Hoover Road. Ripperdan was brought to the traffic stop and positively identified Drawdy as the robber, Scudder said. Drawdy also told police where to find the knife, which his son had thrown out the car window, Scudder said. Officers found the $64 in the 14-year-old's shoe. They charged father and son with armed robbery and kidnapping. They also charged the elder Drawdy with child abuse. Drawdy's son, whose name was withheld because of his age, was taken to the Pasco juvenile delinquent center on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Herman Drawdy was taken to the Land O'Lakes jail. Jail officials said they did not yet have his bail information on Wednesday evening. Land O'Lakes man faces theft chargesWESLEY CHAPEL -- Pasco County sheriff's deputies on Saturday arrested a 19-year-old Land O'Lakes man in connection with three robberies. Deputies said that between Dec. 8 and Jan. 16, Johnathan Almon Babij of 4612 Burlington Road planned and carried out the three burglaries. Deputies said the first, around Dec. 8, involved property valued at $1,280 taken from inside a 1990 Ford passenger car. The second, they said, was on Dec. 31, when Babij stole a 1999 Kawasaki motorcycle valued at $3,000. The third robbery took place Jan. 16. In that incident, deputies said, Babij stole a 1995 Ford Mustang convertible valued at $10,000. Babij faces three charges of grand theft, two charges of auto burglary, and unlawful possession of a handcuff key. He was taken to Land O'Lakes jail, where he remained Wednesday in lieu of $17,000 bail.
