CLEARWATER -- Two motorcyclists were hit by cars in separate accidents Thursday evening on Gulf-to-Bay Boulevard near downtown, and both were airlifted to a hospital.

The motorcyclists' names were not immediately available, but Clearwater police said late Thursday that their injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.

The first accident happened about 6:45 p.m. on Gulf-to-Bay at Duncan Avenue. It was followed by a second accident shortly before 7 p.m. on Gulf-to-Bay at Keene Road, just four blocks to the east.

In each accident, a motorcyclist collided with a vehicle, according to Pinellas County Emergency Medical Services. The two accidents were not related, authorities said.

The motorcyclists were flown by helicopter to Bayfront Medical Center for treatment.
