TODAY-TUESDAY: Two traveling exhibits from the Florida Humanities Council, "Black Florida in Pictures" and "The Wreck of the Henrietta Marie," a slave ship, are on exhibit at the Alric C.T. Pottberg Library at Pasco-Hernando Community College, 10230 Ridge Road, New Port Richey. Hours are 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. today, Monday and Tuesday; 7:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday; and 1-5 p.m. Sunday. TODAY-FEB. 28: Artists Yvette Galliher and Antonio Caparello will be honored at a reception from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Pasco Art Center, 5744 Moog Road, Holiday, where their works are on exhibit through Feb. 28. Soft jazz will be performed by Steve Boisen and Billy Sage. The pen and ink sketches of Florence, Italy, by Nathan Golub and Andrea Jacobson are on exhibit in the Upstairs Gallery. MONDAY: The first of three sessions of "Philosophy Cafe: From Socrates to Sartre" will be held at 6:30 p.m. at Hudson Regional Library, 8012 Library Road (off Fivay Road), Hudson. The first session, led by University of South Florida professor Charles Guignon and assistant professor Eric Winsberg, is "The Problem of Evil." Reading materials on the subject are available at the library information desk. Future sessions are on Feb. 4 ("What is the Good Life?") and Feb. 11 ("The Mystery of Consciousness"). Participation is free.

MONDAY: Pianist Rena Massey and singer Donna Delonay will perform at 7 p.m. at the Jewish Community Center of West Pasco, 9841 Scenic Drive, Port Richey. Admission is $3 (note increase).

TODAY-MARCH 30: An exhibit of oil paintings by the Florida Highwaymen is on exhibit at Brooksville City Hall, 201 Howell Ave. (one block north of the Hernando County Courthouse), Brooksville. The 26 paintings were painted from the early 1950s through the mid 70s and were sold by the roadside to tourists. Viewing hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays. A discussion of the work will be led by collection owners Ken Keefer and Karen Hudson from 5 to 7 p.m. Feb. 6.

SATURDAY-SUNDAY: The Gilbert and Sullivan operetta, The Mikado, will be presented by the Hernando County Fine Arts Council and the Hernando Symphony Orchestra at 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday at Springstead High School Performing Arts Center, 3300 Mariner Blvd., Spring Hill. LOOK AHEAD

FEB. 1-3: The Fort Dade Mountain Man Rendezvous will be held at Withlacoochee River Park, 12449 Withlacoochee Blvd., Dade City. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. The rendezvous depicts life in the 1840s west, when Native Americans and hunters and trappers often got together to trade and talk. There will be games and food for all ages and old-time entertainment. Admission is $2 for ages 12 and older.

FEB. 2: The Hudson-Bayonet Point Lions Club will present "Crystal Lee and Friends" at 2 and 7 p.m. at the Center for the Arts at River Ridge, 11646 Town Center Road, New Port Richey. The 2 p.m. show will feature contemporary, gospel and Broadway tunes. The 7 p.m. show will have country, western, pop and Southern rock. Other performers are Shan-N, Lisa Parks, Dusty Ward, Pete Rostel, Michael Martin, Katie Meyer and Katie Donahue. Featured performers for the evening show are Skin N Bones and the Wiley Fox Band. FEB. 3: "Dancing on Common Ground," a program of Irish step dancing and American tapping and clogging, will be performed at 3 p.m. at the Pasco-Hernando Community College Performing Arts Center, 10230 Ridge Road, New Port Richey. The show tells the story of Irish immigration and assimilation through the medium of dance. Tickets are $12 to $16. Tickets are available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday and Friday at the outside window by the bookstore on the PHCC campus in New Port Richey or by calling (727) 816-3322 between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. weekdays.
