Einstein on wine
The Museum of Science and Industry hosts its seventh annual wine tasting, Einstein on Wine.
This event combines wine, food, music and a silent auction along with more than 80 vintners offering tastings of a variety of wines, including whites, reds, champagnes, domestic and imported. Proceeds benefit the children's science center at MOSI. Musical entertainment is provided by Denise Moore and Then Some.
The event is from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday at the Museum of Science and Industry, 4801 E Fowler Ave. Tickets are $50 per person or $40 per person for BEAM (Be Enthusiastic About MOSI) members. For information, call 987-6100.
Bill Wharton is known as the "sauce boss," a gumbo preacher who cooks up a hefty portion of blues, swamp boogie and Southern roots rock on his slide guitar. Wharton plays mostly original songs and has traveled the world spreading the gospel of blues and hot sauce.
After the performance, Wharton cooks up a big pot of gumbo served free at the end of the show. He has been on the Food Network's Extreme Cuisine, and Dan Ackroyd featured one of his songs as a Blues Breaker. Director Jonathan Demme featured Bill's anthem Let the Big Dog Eat in his film Something Wild.
The show is at 8 tonight at Skipper's Smokehouse, 910 Skipper Road. Tickets are $8 in advance or $12 at Ticketmaster. For information, call 971-0666.
Todd Glass has appeared on Home Improvement, Married . . . with Children, Late Night with Conan O'Brien and Caroline's Comedy Hour.
He will perform at 8 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. tonight, Saturday and 8:30 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets are $12 for general admission and $14 for preferred seating. For information, call 960-1197.
