Beaches notebook
By AMY WIMMER and JULIANNE WU St. Pete BeachThe Presidents Council, an umbrella group of homeowners associations, will host a public meeting at 7 p.m. today in Legion Hall at St. Pete Beach City Hall, 7701 Boca Ciega Drive. The meeting will focus on proposed land development regulations that recently attracted the Presidents Council's attention after a resident discovered the city had included a height increase despite pronouncements to the contrary. GulfportGulfport Community Players will present Ken Ludwig's comedy Moon Over Buffalo. Show times are 8 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and Feb. 7-9. Sunday matinees will be at 2:30 p.m. Feb. 3 and 10. Lobby doors open one hour before the performances. Admission is $7, and advance tickets are available at Eileen's Resale Boutique, Treasures, Beach Bazaar, Small Adventures Book Shop and Class Act. For information, call 322-0316. Madeira BeachThe annual citywide garage sale is scheduled for March 16-17. Residents are invited to plan their own sales and do not need to register with the city to participate. The Pinellas Parliamentarian Unit will hold its monthly meeting from 9:30 a.m. to noon Saturday at Madeira Beach City Hall Auditorium. The unit studies proper parliamentary procedure and offers help to members of all clubs, condominium associations and other groups. All meetings are free and open to the public; membership is welcome. For information, phone 866-3899 or 392-3263. Treasure IslandSunset Beach Civic Association will hold its annual neighborhood yard sale from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Feb. 23. A $5 fee covers advertising and puts your house on a map distributed to shoppers. Each house may display its own "yard sale" sign. Deadline for inclusion on the map is Feb. 13. Call Norma Jusek at 367-6570 or Bette Lippke at 367-1422 for information. Sunset Beach Civic Association will hold its annual Spaghetti Dinner 6:30-8 p.m. Monday at the Treasure Island Community Center.
