The Lightning will be without left wing and second-leading goal scorer Fredrik Modin for at least tonight's game against the Hurricanes at the Ice Palace because of a bone contusion in his right wrist.

The Lightning will be without left wing and second-leading goal scorer Fredrik Modin for at least tonight's game against the Hurricanes at the Ice Palace because of a bone contusion in his right wrist.

Team spokesman Bill Wickett said Modin, whose 14 goals will be lost for a second game in a row, had an MRI on Tuesday that revealed the injury. The wrist is in a cast. Wickett said Modin, who sustained the injury Saturday against the Islanders, will be re-evaluated after the All-Star break.

Tampa Bay, whose 101 goals are the league's fewest, already is without leading goal-scorer Martin St. Louis (broken leg) and his 16 goals. Between the two, 29.7 percent of the team's goal-scoring ability is sidelined.
