Town 'N Country Recreational Center is forming a league for girls basketball players ages 8 to 15. For information, call 903-2247. A softball league for players over 50 is seeking participants. Anyone interested is asked to attend practices at 7 p.m. Thursdays at Garvey Field, on Rome Avenue at Sligh Avenue. Call 878-3149. The Leagurettes slow-pitch softball team is holding open registration for girls ages 5 to 17. Call 855-0170 or 269-8479. GOLF AT CHEVAL: The first George Beardsley Golf Invitational will be held Feb. 10 at Cheval in Lutz. All proceeds go to the ChairScholars Foundation, which provides scholarships for people with severe physical disabilities. The top junior golfers in the Tampa Bay area will compete in the tourney, which begins at noon. For more information, call 610-3305. YOUTH SOCCER: Hillsborough County United, which plays home games at the Ed Radice Complex in Odessa, has openings on several of its competitive (traveling) clubs. BASEBALL: The fifth annual Beauty vs. Brawn softball game has been scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday at the Sickles Softball Field. Players on the Gryphons softball and baseball teams will compete in an exhibition contest to raise funds for a new press box for the softball field. Tickets are $3 each. Prizes will be given away during the event, including autographed collectibles, handmade home decor items, rounds of golf at Waterlefe and restaurant gift certificates.
