Kathleen Jacobs of Daytona Beach was the winner of the Spring Hill Wrestling Club's Christmas basket drawing. The basket was received by her mother, Carol McCarten of Spring Hill, from coach Chris Soto. Members of the Spring Hill Wrestling Club thanked everyone who purchased a ticket to help support the wrestlers' participation in USA Wrestling tournaments.

Toys for Tots was an overwhelming success, thanks to the generosity of the people of Hernando County. Hernando County postal employees, the St. Petersburg Times, the Villages of Timber Pines, Brookridge's Friday Bingo group, Aripeka Elks Lodge 2520, Publix, Hernando County Hess service stations, Spring Hill Fire Rescue, Imperial Cleaners, AJ's Sports Bar, April's Pet Grooming, Big Lots and many other organizations and private individuals helped.

On behalf of the children of Hernando County and the Toys for Tots organization, we wish to thank all the people who donated.

This year we had more than 15,000 toys donated to our program and served 553 families, with a total of 1,833 children. Our volunteers also distributed toys to many agencies, including Hernando County Development Service, Family Services of Hernando County, Save Our Children, Youth and Family Alternatives, five schools and Widow's Oil.

It is such a wonderful feeling to see the hope and happiness on the faces of families and children who might not have had a Christmas otherwise.

Thanks to everyone, and may the year 2002 be a happy and prosperous one for all.
-- Richard D. Moore, Marine Corps Reserve, Spring Hill Detachment 708, Toys for Tots, Hernando County
