Driver charged with striking two children

ZEPHYRHILLS -- Florida Highway Patrol troopers arrested a 33-year-old Zephyrhills man Friday who fled after he lost control of his truck and struck two children, a cable box and a fence, reports stated.

Gregory Allan Kelly of 33536 Isabelle Drive told troopers he was driving his black Chevrolet S-10 south along Ryals Road about 7:15 p.m. when he lost control.

He said he knew he had struck part of a pole, but said he didn't see any harm, so he left. But troopers said Kelly also hit two children in the area. Their ages were not available Saturday, but troopers said the children were treated for cuts and bruises at East Pasco Medical Center.

Officials spotted Kelly's truck late Friday and noticed it had front-end damage. He faces charges of hit and run and leaving the scene of an accident.

Kelly was taken to county jail in Land O'Lakes, where he remained Saturday in lieu of $12,000 bail.

Deputies said they found more than 11/2 ounces of the drug during a narcotics investigation at the home of Rebecca Lynn Miller, 3839 Ford St., New Port Richey.

Miller told deputies the drugs belonged to Steven Ray Morrison, 32, of the same address. But he had been apprehended by bond agents from Georgia by the time deputies arrived, reports stated.

Miller was taken to county jail in Land O'Lakes, where she remained Saturday in lieu of $20,000 bail.

Deputies charge woman with assault on officer

PORT RICHEY -- Sheriff's deputies on Friday arrested a 20-year-old Port Richey woman who they said pushed a deputy and kneed him in the groin.

Deputies arrived about 9:30 p.m. at the home of Sandra Jean Depietro, 8626 Leo Kidd Drive, after complaints of screams at the house.

When Dep. Daniel Housel went to Depietro's front door, she began shouting obscenities at him, telling him to leave, reports stated.

Housel said Depietro then shoved him with her left arm. When he tried to restrain her, she kneed him in the groin, reports stated.

Housel finally was able to restrain Depietro, but not before she cut her leg on a jar during the struggle. She was treated at North Bay Hospital and taken to county jail in Land O'Lakes.

She faces charges of battery on a law enforcement officer. Depietro remained in custody Saturday in lieu of $5,000 bail.

Armando Rivera, 23, of 9839 Richwood Lane in Port Richey faces charges of sex performance by a child.

Deputies said Rivera showed the pictures, which depict the girl posed in a "seductive, sexual manner," to a 16-year-old girl who attends the school.

Rivera was taken to county jail in Land O'Lakes. He later was released on his own recognizance.
