Calling students and parents for free writing workshops

Elementary and middle school students and their parents are invited to free workshops at three Barnes & Noble locations from 6-7:30 p.m. Friday.
Instructors, who are educators and graduates of the Poynter Institute Writers Camp, will share writing tips that apply to journal writing, writing letters or writing on deadline (for your school newspaper or Florida Writes).
Everyone attending will receive a reporter's notebook and a copy of The Write Stuff, a guide written by Pinellas County writing instructor and author Susan McElveen.
Workshop locations and instructors are: Barnes & Noble, 23654 US 19 N, Clearwater, Poynter Institute Senior Scholar Roy Peter Clark and Mary Osborne, coordinator of the Pinellas County Schools writing project and the Poynter Institute Writers Camp; Barnes & Noble, 11802 N Dale Mabry Highway, Tampa, Susan McElveen, author of The Write Stuff; and Barnes & Noble, 122 Brandon TownCenter, Holly Atkins, Pinellas County schools language arts teacher (National Board Certified) and author of the St. Petersburg Times Newspaper in Education series, "Wonders of Florida".
