Floral City school group to flip pancakes for funds

FLORAL CITY -- The Floral City Elementary School Safety Patrol will hold a pancake breakfast to raise funds for its trip to Washington, D.C., from 8 to 11 a.m. Sunday at the VFW on State Road 41 in Floral City. Breakfast will include pancakes, sausage or bacon, juice and milk or coffee. The cost is $3.50 for adults, $2 for children ages 4-7 and children under 4, free.

Homosassa Springs chamber members to get update on fair

HOMOSASSA -- The Homosassa Springs Chamber of Commerce luncheon is scheduled for noon Feb. 21 at the Homosassa River Resort, 5297 S Cherokee Way in Old Homosassa. Lunch will be catered by Charlie Brown's Crab House in the Manatee Banquet Room. Guest speaker Jean Grant of the Citrus County Fairgrounds Association will give an update on the 2002 Fair. A promotional table will be available and chamber members may display business information. Reservations required, call the chamber office at 628-2666 by 2 p.m. Feb. 20. Luncheon: $8 per person.

Requests for absentee ballots being accepted

The Supervisor of Elections office is accepting requests for absentee ballots for the 2002 elections. The election dates are Sept. 10 and Nov. 5. Call 341-6740 to request your absentee ballot or visit the elections office at 120 N Apopka Ave., Inverness. The office is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
