Azalea seeks volunteers to mentor, tutor students

Azalea Elementary, 1680 74th St. N, has a critical need for mentors and tutors for students who are struggling academically and emotionally. Adults who can volunteer as little as one hour per week can contact Shawnon Krimmel, community involvement specialist, at 893-2187.

Workshops set to discuss mentoring strategies

Pinellas County Schools' office of community involvement announces effective mentoring strategies workshops at the following south county locations:

Bear Creek Elementary, 350 61st St. S from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Thursday.

John Hopkins Middle, 701 16th St. S from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Feb. 12.

Area III Office, 1001 51st St. S from 4 to 6 p.m. on Feb. 19.

The workshops are designed for individuals willing to volunteer as a mentor in any Pinellas County school. Call 588-6405 for information.

Fashion show, luncheon to benefit Morning Star

Catholic Daughters of the Americas, St. John Vianney Court, will host its 17th annual fashion show and luncheon at noon on Feb. 14 at the St. John Vianney parish center, 445 82nd Ave., St. Pete Beach. The event is a benefit for Morning Star School.
