St. Petersburg Times columnist and feature writer Lennie Bennett has been named the newspaper's new art critic. She succeeds Mary Ann Marger, who recently retired.

A lifelong resident of St. Petersburg, Bennett has always had a passion for art and frequently writes about the visual arts. Most recently, she profiled Michael Milkovich, outgoing director of the Museum of Fine Arts, and broke news of the Dali Museum's coup of gaining a rare Dali on loan from New York's Museum of Modern Art.

She is particularly well-known to St. Petersburg readers for her On the Town column, in which she has chronicled the social scene with a sharp eye and pen that will serve her well on the visual arts beat. She begins her new duties in mid-February.
