Church asks county to waive sidewalk requisite
New Hope Community Church recently filed a request asking the county to waive its sidewalk requirement for the 110-seat sanctuary on Lakeside Drive in Lutz.
The church, which is expanding its sanctuary on the 1.77-acre site in Triple Lake Estates, says sidewalks should not be required since the subdivision has been developed without sidewalks.
A land use hearing officer is scheduled to hear the request April 1. (Petition 02-0444)
TOWN 'N COUNTRY: East Group Properties won a zoning hearing master's endorsement of a proposed rezoning that would allow 108,000 square feet of light industrial uses at the northwest corner of Benjamin Road and Flora Street.
John A. Crislip recommended approval of the project that would also allow for open storage on the 9-acre site. It is now occupied by a home and a communications tower.
County staff and the Planning Commission also approve of the rezoning. (Petition 02-0062)
LUTZ: Crislip also endorsed a petition that would allow overnight commercial truck parking on 7.5 acres at the southeast corner of Whitaker Road and U.S. 41. However, Crislip recommended denial of the request to use the southern portion of the property for recreation vehicle and boat/trailer storage. (Petition 02-0064)
CARROLLWOOD: The county's real estate department also won Crislip's endorsement for a rezoning of a nearly 0.6-acre parcel at the northeast corner of N Dale Mabry Highway and Linebaugh Avenue. The county wants to use the property for a retention pond and parking spaces taken away from the Cypress Pointe Office Center by eminent domain action during the Linebaugh Avenue widening project.(Petition 02-0085)
TOWN 'N COUNTRY: Crislip recommended approval of a request that would allow the conversion of a home at the southwest corner of Hanley and Jackson Springs roads into an office. Both county staffers and the planning department have endorsed the project. (Petition 02-0112)
