Try out new voting machines

Voters can try out Pinellas County's new touch screen voting machines at several locations around the county in the next few weeks.

Voters can try out Pinellas County's new touch screen voting machines at several locations around the county in the next few weeks.

Clearwater voters will use the machines in their city election March 12. All county residents will use them in the September primary.

The machines will be on display at several events open to the public.

Voters also can try out the machines from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. any weekday at three elections offices: the Elections Service Center, 14255 49th St. N, Suite 202, Clearwater; Pinellas County Courthouse, 315 Court St., Clearwater; and the Pinellas County Building, 501 First Avenue N (Fifth Street N entrance), St. Petersburg.

Elections staffers also are taking machines to events not open to the general public, such as school classes and private group meetings. More events will be announced in the future.

Anyone who wants to host a demonstration should contact Virginia Stewart or Julie Kelsey at 464-6110.

Additionally, the new touch-screen voting machines will be displayed to the public on an ongoing basis at all three offices of the Pinellas County Supervisor of Elections. This includes the Elections Services Center at 14255 49th St. N, Suite 202, Clearwater; the Pinellas County Courthouse, 315 Court St., Clearwater; and the Pinellas County Building, 501 First Ave. N (Fifh Street N entrance), St. Petersburg. These offices are open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
