FSU makes run, holds on to beat Wake

TALLAHASSEE -- Tasheika Morris scored 16 and former Clearwater High star Shinikki Whiting 12 as Florida State held off Wake Forest 63-56 on Saturday.

TALLAHASSEE -- Tasheika Morris scored 16 and former Clearwater High star Shinikki Whiting 12 as Florida State held off Wake Forest 63-56 on Saturday.

Morris scored 10 points in the second half and Whiting eight.

LaQuinta Neely scored four during an 8-0 run midway through the second half that gave the Seminoles a 43-37 lead. Florida State (13-11, 4-9 ACC) led the rest of the game but needed eight free throws in the final 1:02 to clinch.

After trailing 29-28 at halftime, Wake Forest scored the first five of the second half and later led 37-35.

The Seminoles won their second straight after losing the previous five. Wake Forest lost its second straight and fourth of five.

SAINT LEO 76, TAMPA 64: Lisa Cronauer scored 20 and Ebony Winn had 16 points and 16 rebounds for the host Lions. The Lions led 42-33 at the break, and former Tampa Catholic star September Harrison's layup made it 63-41 with 11:55 left.

LYNN 72, FLA. SOUTHERN 62: Kerri Rulison scored 14 of her 20 in the second half for the visiting Knights. Lynn led 32-26 at halftime and 49-34 with 13:28 left.
