Petty Officer 1st Class Michael J. Pittenger, son of Jan and Jim Pittenger of Pinellas Park, has returned from a six-month deployment to the Middle East. Pittenger, whose home port is Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, is a cryptographic technician supervisor on the USS Okane.

Airman Nathan T. Parker, son of Delores Byers and Nate Parker of St. Petersburg, has completed basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. While undergoing training, he earned credit toward an associate's degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

A 2001 graduate of the Criminal Justice Academy at Pinellas Park High, Parker will remain at Lackland for security forces technical training.

Cadet Micah David Green, son of Donna and Ronald Green of Seminole, has been named to the dean's list at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.

A 2000 graduate of Seminole High, Green plans to graduate in 2004 from West Point and be commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Army.

Pvt. 1st Class Greg Herring, son of Barbara and John Herring of Seminole, has completed combat training at Camp Lejeune, N.C., graduating in the top 10 percent of his class.

A 2000 graduate of Seminole High, Herring will continue his training at Camp Lejeune.
