TAMPA -- A.J. Schneider, Jesuit's 240-pound fullback, has orally committed to Nebraska on a "gray-shirt" basis.

A gray shirt is when a student receives a scholarship in December after a senior graduates. The gray-shirt athlete who receives the scholarship is then evaluated throughout spring drills. At the end of spring drills the coaches decide whether to extend the scholarship for the fall.

"I'm extremely excited about the opportunity," said Schneider, who didn't receive any firm Division I scholarship offers. "I visited the Nebraska campus and really liked it.

"I've always had a lot of respect for Nebraska football."
