New gallery showcases local favorites

TheSPACEat220, a new Tampa gallery, presents two well-known local artists in its opening show: Antonio Caparello, who began his career as a billboard artist before becoming an assistant to James Rosenquist for 10 years, and Lance Rodgers, who curates major shows at Salt Creek Artworks in St. Petersburg. Their work, including Caparello's NEED TO GET TITLE FROM SLIDE DOWNSTAIRS, above, is joined by that of landscape artist Miguel Arguello, through March 8.

TheSPACEat220 is at 220 E Madison St., Suite 220, Tampa.

Caparello also has shows at two other area galleries. He is featured in a group show with Florida artists Leslie Neumann, Betsy Lester and David Williams through Sunday, at Merrick Gallery, 330 Beach Drive NE, St. Petersburg.

And his work is part of "Masters of a New Millennium," featuring oil paintings, at the Pasco Arts Council Gallery, through Feb. 28. The gallery is at 5744 Moog Road, Holiday.
