Firefighters douse blaze in unoccupied home
INVERNESS -- An early afternoon fire scorched the interior of an Inverness home Wednesday. No one was home at the time. The fire, at 1109 Knob Hill Point, was reported about 12:55 p.m., according to county fire services director Mike Schlaudraff. Firefighters extinguished the blaze in less than 15 minutes. Schlaudraff said he did not have a damage estimate. The State Fire Marshal's Office was called to investigate. Neighbor Cindy Morris was making valentines with her 7-year-old daughter Heather and 5-year-old son Devin when she saw thick, black smoke billowing from the house. She said a family had just bought the residence and had not yet moved in. Their names were unavailable Wednesday.
