You think your New Year's resolutions are hard. A comedy at the Citrus County Art League centers on a man who wants to bump off the missus.

HERNANDO -- A comedy about a man trying to find personal freedom by bumping off his wife opens today at the Citrus County Art League.
The play begins -- and ends -- on New Year's Eve at the Perry mansion. It seems the lord of the manor, Matthew Perry (Tony Oddo) is feeling out of sorts. His friend is out galavanting around the country. But he's only able to because his wife died.
That gets Perry thinking.
"He wants to flit around with his jet set friends and do anything he wants to," said Bill Halavan, director.
His New Year's resolution is to kill his wife, Julia Perry (Jaret Luboweicki). He tells her so, and she equally resolves to stick around for another year, thank you very much.
And, so a yearlong game of wits begins, only it seems that Matthew is half-armed. However, some mysterious deaths do start afflicting the mansion staff and Perry friends.
"He goes through the rituals of trying to kill her. Poison in the drinks and things like that, but he's thwarted at every turn," Halavan said.
Added to the mix are the ditzy daughter, Bunny Perry (Elisha Rocke) and her groom Donald (Dave Clemens), who get mixed up in the caper to the point that their wedding becomes imperiled. Rounding out the cast is sleazy Detective Plotnik (Jerry Rust) and the butler who seems to be hiding a secret himself, Buttram (Peter Abrams). Lee Proctor is the assistant director.
A Little Murder Never Hurt Anybody opens today and runs weekends through March 3 at the Citrus County Art League 2644 N Annapolis Ave., Hernando. A Saturday matinee and an evening performance are scheduled Feb. 23. Box office hours are Tuesdays through Sundays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets are $9 at the door. Call 746-7606.
