Home show coming to Trop

The 13th spring Suncoast Home, Garden & Remodeling Show is Friday through Feb. 24 at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg.

More than 700 home improvement and building exhibits will be on display, including hurricane protection products, energy-efficiency and outdoor living displays.

Hours are 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Friday and Feb. 23 and 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Feb. 24. Admission is $6.50, half-price Friday, 12 and younger free. Information: (727) 563-0502, or www.floridahomeshows.com

Rivercrest grand opening

Whitman Homes, part of the Jacksonville-based St. Joe Co., is the builder. The development is a partnership between Arvida, a real estate division of the St. Joe Co., and TerraBrook, the developer of Westchase and MiraBay

A Lakeland company has been awarded a patent for a radiant heat barrier that can be installed in existing homes

Energy Home-Shield has received the patent for its Energy-Snap system, which the company says can save as much as 20 percent annually on cooling costs. A sheet of reinforced layered aluminum blocks up to 97 percent of the sun's radiant heat before it enters an attic.
