Men charged with making, trying to use forged bills

Three New Port Richey roommates were arrested Thursday and face several charges after Pasco County sheriff's deputies say one of them made counterfeit $5 and $10 bills and the other two tried to use them to buy cigarettes and Burger King food.

Thomas Emory Horvatin, 20, of 4123 Vista Verde Drive No. 5 faces a charge of making forged bills, deputies said.

They say he made color photocopies of money at his office -- One Stop Auto in New Port Richey -- and gave them to his roommates, Wesley Alan Coney and Nicholas Peter Kelly.

Deputies say Coney, 18, tried to use the money Feb. 6 at Burger King, 9010 U.S. 19 in Port Richey, and Texaco, 4015 Little Road in New Port Richey.

They say Kelly, 22, tried to use the money Feb. 6 at Texaco and Burger King and the next day at Burger King.

Kelly faces three counts of uttering a forged bill and one of making forged bills, deputies said. Coney faces two counts of uttering a forged bill and one of making forged bills.

The three men were released Friday from county jail in Land O'Lakes without having to post bail.
