The 13th spring Suncoast Home, Garden & Remodeling Show is Friday through Feb. 24 at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg.

More than 700 home improvement and building exhibits will be on display, including hurricane protection products, energy-efficiency and outdoor living displays.

A Lakeland company has been awarded a patent for a radiant heat barrier that can be installed in existing homes

Energy Home-Shield has received the patent for its Energy-Snap system, which the company says can save as much as 20 percent annually on cooling costs. A sheet of reinforced layered aluminum blocks up to 97 percent of the sun's radiant heat before it enters an attic.
