Sweethearts team up to roll for cash prizes

Karen Martin and Marc Procopio teamed up to win the Sweethearts Scotch Doubles tournament at Mariner Lanes.

Martin and Procopio combined for a 940 series to take home the $240 first prize.

Gary and Roseann Lescio earned the $130 second prize with a 923 series.

Other money-winners in the Feb. 10 event were Mike and Dawn Lambraia ($110), Laverne Stephens and Peter Dalcamo ($80) and Tom Allen and Amber Friewald ($32).

SPRING HILL: Jim Hutchinson bowled 300 in his first game of SunTrust Classic League play Jan. 31 at Spring Hill Lanes.

He added 212 and 182 games for a league-high 694 series.

Also at Spring Hill, Sheila Rosenberg bowled a 246 game and 576 series Feb. 7 in the S&W Thursday Night League. She has a 152 average.

Kevin Van Dyk's 277 was the league's second-highest score. Kevin Williams rolled 248 en route to a 666 series, second only to Hutchinson.

UPCOMING: The Mariner Classic Seventh Annual Singles Handicap Championship will be held at 1 p.m. March 17.

The event is open to men and women whose average is 180 and above. Handicap is 80 percent of 220.

First prize is $1,100, based on 80 entries. Entry fee is $45 before March 14. There is a $10 late charge after that date. Call (352) 683-7576 for further details.
