Author Elie Wiesel will speak on Reflections on the Significance of Sept. 11, 2001, at 8 p.m. Thursday at McArthur Gymnasium. Wiesel is the author of more than 40 books including Night, a memoir about his experiences at Auschwitz and Buchenwald. As a Holocaust survivor, he has devoted himself to human rights causes and in 1986 he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. In 1987, he and his wife established the Elie Wiesel Foundation for Humanity. He has been the Andrew W. Mellon Professor in the Humanities at Boston University since 1976. This is part of the Presidential Inauguration Lecture Series.

Richard T. Dasher, member of the Academy of Senior Professionals at Eckerd College, continues his series of lectures on the evolution of the Broadway musical with The Beggar's Opera, 3 p.m. Friday at Lewis House. Dasher will talk about American minstrel shows, Gilbert and Sullivan, American operetta and the life and works of Richard Rogers. A $3 donation is suggested. Call 864-8834 for information.
