Marine Corps Sgt. David Pittenger, son of Jan and Jim Pittenger of Pinellas Park, was promoted to his present rank while serving with the Joint Communications Support Element at MacDill Air Force Base.

Pittenger is a 1996 graduate of Dixie Hollins High.

Pvt. 1st Class Greg Herring, son of Barbara and John Herring of Seminole, has completed combat training at Camp Lejeune, N.C., graduating in the top 10 percent of his class.

A 2000 graduate of Seminole High, Herring will continue his training at Camp Lejeune.
