How is this for eeriness?

The United States faces Russia in the Olympic semifinals Friday, 22 years to the day after it played the Soviet Union in the 1980 Games at Lake Placid.

Want more weirdness?

In 1980, the United States defeated West Germany, followed by the Soviet Union and Finland.

The United States beat Germany in Wednesday's quarterfinals and could play Finland in the final if it beat Canada in Wednesday night's quarterfinals.

Each game will be 22 years to the day after 1980.

"I believe in fate," U.S. wing Jeremy Roenick.

"I absolutely believe in fate."
