In the application to get permission to continue bugging the Aisenbergs' home, sheriff's detectives said the bugs had picked up Marlene telling Steve: "I hate you, I hate you for what you did to our tiny daughter.''

The Aisenbergs said the statement was never made and that the tape is unintelligible. Federal Magistrate Judge Mark Pizzo also wrote in a report that he could not hear that statement on the tape.
