FLORIDA STATE AT CLEMSON

WHEN/WHERE: Noon; Littlejohn Coliseum, Clemson, S.C.

TV/RADIO: Sunshine; WLVU-AM 1470.

RECORDS: FSU 11-13, 4-9 ACC; Clemson 12-15, 3-11.

COACHES: FSU -- Steve Robinson (63-82, fifth season; 109-100 overall). Clemson -- Larry Shyatt (54-69, fourth season; 73-78 overall).

KEY PLAYERS: FSU -- Monte Cummings, G, 6-4 Sr. (15.3 ppg, 4 rpg); Delvon Arrington, PG, 5-11 Sr. (10.8 ppg, 6.4 apg, 3.9 rpg, 2 spg). Clemson -- Jamar Knight, F, 6-5 Sr. (13.1 ppg, 4.2 rpg); Chris Hobbs, F, 6-7 So. (12.2 ppg, 6.1 rpg); Tony Stockman, G, 6-1 So. (11.8 ppg); Edward Scott, PG, 6-0 Jr. (10.8 ppg, 8 apg).

NOTES: The Seminoles snapped a six-game skid with a 66-59 home win against No. 22 Virginia on Wednesday. They're tied for sixth in the ACC with Georgia Tech, but if they can win out (they host Maryland and Georgia Tech next week) they can finish as high as fifth in the league at 7-9. FSU hasn't won more than six ACC games, let alone finished higher than sixth, since 1993, when it was 12-4 and second. But that's getting too far ahead. First, the Seminoles have to win their first ACC road game in eight tries this season; they're 1-9 on the road overall. ... The Tigers have lost 10 of their past 11, but they have been playing better lately. They lost by nine at Maryland (99-90), by 10 against Duke (98-88), led Maryland 35-31 at the half Wednesday before losing 84-68 and beat Wake Forest 118-115 in double overtime. ... FSU leads the series 20-15, including a 68-63 win Jan. 24 in Tallahassee. In that game senior forward Antwuan Dixon scored 15, hitting 4 of 7 3-pointers.

USF AT ALABAMA-BIRMINGHAM

WHEN/WHERE: 2; Bartow Arena.

TV/RADIO: Ch. 32; WQYK-AM 1010.

RECORDS: USF 17-9, 7-6 C-USA; UAB 11-15, 4-9.

COACHES: USF -- Seth Greenberg (91-82, sixth season; 196-152 overall). UAB -- Murry Bartow (101-81, sixth season).

KEY PLAYERS: USF -- Altron Jackson, G/F, 6-6 Sr. (18.8 ppg, 6.7 rpg, 2.8 apg, 2 spg); B.B. Waldon, PF, 6-8 Sr. (12.5 ppg, 9.0 rpg, 2.5 apg, 2 spg); Will McDonald, C, 6-11 Jr. (13 ppg, 5.2 rpg). UAB -- Will Campbell, C, 6-8 Sr. (12.2 ppg, 8.7 rpg); Morris Finley, G, 5-11 So. (11.7 ppg, 2.6 rpg); P.J. Arnold, F, 6-5 Sr. (11.7 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 41.4 3-point percentage).

NOTES: While it seemed the Bulls' world collapsed in the second half of Wednesday's 71-59 loss to Memphis, there is plenty to play for with three regular-season games left. Twenty wins is attainable for the first time in 12 years and the third time in school history. A berth in the NIT might seem undesirable for a team that has NCAA Tournament aspirations, but it beats the alternative. And by playing well in its last three regular-season games, USF could get a surge for the C-USA tournament and make a last-gasp bid for the NCAA. ... USF's Reggie Kohn had 12 assists against Memphis and continues to lead the league (7.2 apg) by a wide margin despite playing for more than two months with a lower-leg stress fracture. ... In C-USA play, USF has the league's highest field-goal percentage (47.1) and lowest free-throw percentage (57.6). ... USF has a 84-57 rebounding edge in its past two games. ... Waldon needs 23 rebounds to pass Hakim Shahid (893) and become USF's all-time leader. Jackson needs 45 points to pass Radenko Dobras (1,935) for second in school history. ... USF beat UAB 81-65 on Feb. 5 in Tampa.
