County: It's too cold to play

TAMPA -- As temperatures dipped into the 40s and winds kicked up Wednesday afternoon, the county's athletic department decided to reschedule all baseball and softball games, tennis matches and track meets scheduled for Wednesday night.

Those contests were moved to tonight at their original times and places.

"With it getting near freezing and the wind blowing the way it is, we're not going to risk getting someone hurt," Hillsborough County athletic director Vernon Korhn said. "There's just no need to risk it when we can move those contests to tonight.

"It's not supposed to get as cold or be as windy tonight."
