South Florida coach Jim Leavitt will be the guest speaker at the St. Petersburg Quarterback Club's 64th annual banquet, which honors the county's outstanding senior players and coaches.

The banquet is March 7 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the St. Petersburg Yacht Club, 11 Central Ave. The fee is $40 for members and $50 for non-members. For information, contact Tim Driscoll at (727) 896-1144 or lawdriscoll@msn.com.

Volleyball

About 1,600 players from around the state will gather this weekend for a tournament at the Pinellas Expo Center, 10601 U.S. 19 N in Pinellas Park. Preliminary matches are from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, with single-elimination play from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free.

Signing

East Lake forward Megan Balmer has signed a soccer scholarship to attend Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va. Balmer, a four-year player for the Eagles, scored 20 goals this season to help East Lake advance to the regional quarterfinals. Balmer also plays club soccer for the Clearwater Chargers.

Diving

Notre Dame diver Meghan Perry-Eaton, a Bloomingdale graduate, recently finished second in the 1-meter spring board and fourth in the 3-meter board at the Big East championships. Perry-Eaton received All-Big East honors for her 1-meter performance, helping Notre Dame to the conference championship.
