TOWN 'N COUNTRY -- There will be several new places to eat at in Town 'N Country this summer, from an Italian restaurant to an ice cream shop. And they'll be strategically located in one spot, at Hillsborough Avenue and Memorial Highway in the recently opened Home Depot complex.

"There will be a nice variety of restaurants and service places," said Ira Waitz, vice president of Monroe's Prestige, the project's developer.

Waitz said an Italian restaurant has signed a lease and there is a pending lease for a seafood restaurant. Both should be open by July, he said.

Town 'N Country has always had a surplus of fast food restaurants, but only recently have more upscale restaurants begun moving to the area.

An old neighborhood favorite, Dunkin' Donuts, has moved to a spot near the western boundary of the property and will be housed with Baskin Robbins Ice Cream and Togo's, a sandwich shop.

The trio are set to open next month, Waitz said.

A dry cleaner also has signed on and will be located between the two restaurants, Waitz said.

Although leases haven't been signed yet, Waitz said other prospective tenants are a video store and an art and frame shop.

The 135,112-square-foot Home Depot, which opened last year, is the anchor store for the 207,759-square-foot center, built by Monroe's Prestige Group and Morin Development Group. The complex was formerly the Hillsborough Square Shopping Center that once housed a Kmart and a Kash n' Karry.

A Walgreens, being built in the old Dunkin' Donuts site, is scheduled to open in May; and an additional parcel is being considered for a fast food restaurant, Waitz said.
