Shaneyfelt is coach of year

Clearwater coach Tom Shaneyfelt has been named Class 5A girls basketball coach of the year by the Florida Athletic Coaches Association.

Shaneyfelt guided the Tornadoes to a school-best 33-2 season and a trip to the state championship game, where they lost 76-51 to Hollywood South Broward.

In nine seasons at Clearwater, Shaneyfelt has a record of 232-58 and has five berths in the state tournament.
