Petty Officer 2nd Class Erica Cook, daughter of Lori and Carlos Escobar of St. Petersburg, was promoted to her present rank and completed a six-month deployment to the Mediterranean aboard the USS Enterprise.

Cook is a 1996 graduate of Northeast High.

Pvt. Joshua Marc Maddalena, son of Debra and Mark Maddalena of St. Petersburg, has completed basic training at Fort Sill, Okla. He will continue his training at Fort Bliss, Texas.

Maddalena is a 2000 graduate of Boca Ciega High.
